This journal is semi-Friends only. Most fannish posts (pic spams, graphics, fan mixes, etc) will be unlocked. I have a fairly open friending policy. Feel free to friend me at will, but I probably won't notice unless you comment.

It's Saturday night and instead of being social, I'm curled up with some chinese food and some tv. Feeling off.

ENTERTAIN ME, FLIST. Talk to me. Talk to me with pictures! Of band boys and girls! Or anyone or anything! Here, I'll start us off.

Why did no one tell me that there was a new Batman cartoon? Or that it features AQUAMAN, and GREEN ARROW, and THE MOTHER FUCKING BLACK CANARY? OR THAT NEIL PATRICK HARRIS DID A GUEST VOICE VILLAIN WHO SINGS A SONG ABOUT THE BLACK CANARY?

Looks like I have plans for the weekend.

For a few years now I've felt like I've been borrowing somebody else's life. The part about that which bothers me the most is how temporary it feels. You know? It's not my life, so eventually someone is going to come back to reclaim it and I have no idea what I'll do next.

Is that weird? I don't know. That was your psuedo-philosophical comment of the day. Have a Billiam.

Somebody should tell me a story. About him and Travis, or him and Gabe, or him, Gabe, and Travis.

Here, I'll start you off. One upon a time there was a boy named William. He lived in a tiny hamlet. It was actually a town, but he liked to call it a hamlet. Made it more authentic. And William had a fairy godmother. His name was Gabe. He wasn't actually a fairy godmother, just a good friend who was frequently drunk and liked to give William bad advice and strange gifts.

And go! :D? :D?

Anyone else watching cspan? I keep getting angry and wanting to yell at people. Some of their facts are just blatantly wrong. I mean, when they're even relying on facts and aren't just rambling about the US government takeover of blah blah blah. Most of them only have a minute to speak so they aren't using facts and details.

In other news, I made pumpkin bread! It came out really great. I love the texture. If I was making it again I think I would use a little bit more seasoning and a little bit more pumpkin, just to get that extra oomph, but it's still really good. And I put walnuts on the top even though I don't like nuts, because my sister requested. It added a nice crunch to it. It's so moist and perfect though. Mmmm pumpkin bread.

Tomorrow my sister and I are going to the Central Park zoo and then to dinner and then? THEN? THEN WE'RE SEEING BILL MAHER! I am SO excited! Our seats are partial view, so we're probably behind a column, but his humor isn't really visual so it should be okay. BILL MAHER. I love him for his politics, my sister loves him because she's really into this whole organic movement.

The rest of my day is going to be doing laundry, figuring out student loans, and organizing my bandom pictures. Because they're seriously all over the place. I'll probably end up deleting like, half of my panic pictures. I have so many that I don't even open the folder anymore because it's too hard to find anything. I need to figure out what pictures I actually want.

Last bit of happy news? I HAVE A MOVE IN DATE! I'm moving into my BRAND SPANKING NEW apartment on Sunday the 29th. I'm excited.

I really want to go see the Daily Show again. Would anyone be interested in going with me? Obviously this would be months and months from now, since I'm pretty sure they have along waiting list.

So is there anyone in the New York area or would like to come up and visit me and see a taping? I can offer up my couch, we can make a day of it.

I've updated the Hey Monday primer. I moved Elliot to a new 'former members' section, wrote in a little on that, and added a few videos. There's still a lot I need to add and I'd like to go through and resize some photos, maybe replace them with different ones, but that can wait. They've been doing too much, I can't keep up. I love their faces.

Bad day. Blah blah blah. I need to accept the fact that sometimes I make mistakes, and it's not the end of the world. No one is expecting me to be perfect. Especially when I've only just started. I also need to accept that not everyone is going to like me and that's okay. There are people who like me and I should just be happy I've been lucky enough to find them, and not worry about everybody else.

And now that the Stuart Smalley moment is over, lets look at some bandom pictures. Ones that are happy making.

Rain rain go away )
And that's it for my mini picspam.

ALSO. WHILE I WAS DOING THIS. I got a call and something really exciting might be happening but it hasn't been confirmed yet so I don't want to talk about it, but I'M REALLY EXCITED NOW. :D

Can we talk about how proud I am of my senator?

Senator Specter has been working his ass off lately. He's facing a really tough primary against a moderately liberal opponent right now, so he's been staking out some positions on the left. Most of them are fairly in line with where he was as a Republican, but now he's being much more vocal about it. (If you look at the article he takes the issue from a legal and practical view rather than as a moral one. Which may not be exactly how I would frame it, but I feel it is a perfectly valid way to go.)

And say what you want about him, call him an political opportunist if you want, but the guy gets shit done. If you have a fight you want to win you want Arlen Specter on your side.

So I'm chilling at [info]pearl_o's place. It's pretty awesome, you should be totally jealous. We ordered some chinese and watched the making of videos off of LotMS. We're probably going to watch LotMS when I stop being so boring and using her computer to make this update.

Also, it's storming. I love me some storms. Ontop of that, Erica made some chocolate pudding pie. Am I an excited girl? You bet your sweet ass I am.

Life is good, flisters! Life is good. :DDDDDD

My internet isn't strong enough for me to download the second episode of Tru Blood. :(

In other news, work is going better. It's a lot of information and i have no idea what I'm doing. Hopefully that will go away soon.

Also, in the office I overheard one of the assistant buyers talking about Melrose Place. First she said Ashlee Simpson is the worst actress ever. Then she said that the character she plays is so awful and crazy. And then she said that Ashlee plays her so well she can't help but think she's like that.

And I was like WAIT. WHAT. Is she a good actress or a bad actress? MAKE UP YOUR MIND AND STOP INSULTING ASHLEE. >:(

But I said none of that because I'm not going to be the crazy girl in the office.

Also! Today my old roommate Yo posted pictures from DC. Her pictures are really beautiful, but this was my favorite.

haaa. I miss DC so much it hurts.

Okay, as usual, everything comes down to the last minute and I have no one to blame but myself. Trying to work out bags and bus tickets and my sister being pissed and my dad not answering his phone.

Has anyone mastered the ability of producing bus tickets out of thin air? If so, call me.

In unrelated happy news, I listened to the East Village Radio for The Young Veins last night. Well, Ryan Ross, at least. The show was somewhat baffling, but I liked the guy that came on before Ryan Rossy and Greenwald. Got to hear a new song off of Take a Vacation and I really enjoyed it. I wasn't sure if I could like an album carried by Ryan Ross alone, and I'm still not positive, but I did like that song a lot. And Jon is supposed to sing some songs on the album, if I understand correctly, so that could add some interest.

In any case, it's nice to think about something that doesn't matter between dealing with things I should have dealt with a week ago. Well done, self.

So, this week Joe is DJing and The Young Veins are having a listening party. Both of these events are Angels and Kings in New York.

You know when I'm going to be in New York? NEXT WEEK. SCREW YOU, TIME. Although Empires will be in NYC next week. So maybe I can make my way over there to see them. Probably not though. FML.

Okay, so most of you have probably figured out I'm a big Katy Perry fangirl. Today I spent a ridiculous amount of time watching Katy Perry videos on youtube instead of dealing with real life stuff like I should be. And you know what I found out? I... apparently want to write MCR/Katy Perry crossovers.

DON'T JUDGE ME. It's just that they have videos with very similar themes! Okay, so MCR has Ghost of You which is set in WWII and features the death of a soldier. Katy Perry has Thinking of You, which is set in WWII and features the death of a soldier.

Okay, so one is set on the beaches of Normandy and the other is somewhere in a forest, but CLOSE ENOUGH. There are also scenes with dancing and dress uniforms and MAGIC. It just really makes me want the story of Katy and Mikey, who have a comfortable sort of love that stems from them both being gigantic dorks. And then Mikey goes off to war, and Katy misses him terribly. She finds someone else to warm her bed but it's not him. And then he dies. And his friends return back to the US and go to see her, because Mikey loved her, and she's already with someone else. And they're pissed off, they're so angry. How could she move on so quickly? He died so she could be safe in the glorious US of A, and she's with some hunk. And then she gets angry because how dare they judge her? Don't they understand that she's lost everything? How heartbroken she is? That she is just trying to survive at this point?

And then somehow it ends up Bob/Katy or Ray/Katy, I don't even know. The point is, beautiful people in period costumes make me happy.

And in a fandom where Mike Carden/one of the Jonas Brothers is an accepted pairing, I don't think anyone should judge me. >:(

:(

On a related note, does anyone know where I can find some good Katy Perry icons? As soon as I track down some good screencaps of her videos I'll try to make some of my own, but until then? I'm having trouble finding ones I like.

I've been posting less and less lately. Real life things have been pretty heavy, pretty busy. To all of you following this journal for the Battle Royale, I'm really sorry. I know, it's dragged on way longer than is necessary. Hopefully I'll have the next poll up soon. I'm cutting it off after the vocalists. I just have way too much going on to really deal with it. I'm sorry if anyone was looking forward to the pianists/keytarist round.

In other bandom news - Elliot left Hey Monday. There is not enough D: in the world to express my feelings about that. Oh, and Katy Perry is definitely not dating Travis McCoy anymore. That makes me super sad. She still tweets at him though. :(

Also, I really love Fall Out Boy. Anyway, here are some pictures that are new (to me) and that make me happy.

THANKS FOR THE SEGUE, KATY PERRY.

So it seems our President was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize. It's no honorary degree from the University of Arizona, but I guess beggars can't be choosers.

Congrats, Mr. President, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BO OBAMA! Aw, puppy.

You bet your ass that's an icon of Joe Biden and Pete Wentz. ADORABLE LITTLE BABY PETE WENTZ. And the keywords are "Joe Biden created Bandom." Without him, there would be no beloved BNF. It's such a weird world. ♥

In unrelated news, this is a 16 year old Katy Perry (before she took that as her stage name)rocking the fuck out of her guitar. This girl is talented as hell. As much as I love "One of the Boys" I would also buy a whole cd of music like this from her. She sounds freakin' awesome. It's weird seeing her with less than perfectly coiffed blonde hair. But she's adorable and she sounds great. This video is so cool.

Now I need to figure out how to rip this, because it's really cool sounding.
